The CSIR-National Geophysical Research Institute (CSIR-NGRI) in Hyderabad is a leading research and development institute operating under the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), which is an autonomous organization under the Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of India. CSIR-NGRI is currently seeking online applications exclusively from Indian nationals to fill Multi-Tasking Staff positions as detailed below.
Post Details:
The Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) positions are now available with a total of 12 vacancies under the post code MTS. Among these 6 positions are unreserved, which includes 1 seat specifically allocated for individuals with Orthopaedic Disabilities (PwBD-OH), 1 vacancy for the Economically Weaker Section (EWS), 4 positions reserved for Other Backward Classes (Non-Creamy Layer) – OBC(NCL) and 1 for the Scheduled Caste (SC).
Eligibility:
The essential qualification required is the completion of Matriculation (10th standard) or an equivalent level of education. It is preferable for candidates to have completed their Intermediate (12th class) and possess experience in relevant fields such as office maintenance, gardening or vehicle upkeep.

Pay Scale:
The pay scale is set at Level-1 within the Pay Matrix as per the 7th Central Pay Commission. The total emoluments amount to approximately ₹35,973, which includes the minimum salary along with House Rent Allowance that this figure may vary depending on additional allowances such as Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance, and Travel Allowance.
Age limit:
The upper age limit for the position of Multi-Tasking Staff is set at 25 years as of January 5, 2026, which is the final date for submitting online applications. This age limit is subject to relaxation allowing an extension of 5 years for candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes (SC) and Scheduled Tribes (ST) and 3 years for those from Other Backward Classes (OBC) who are not in the creamy layer.
Selection Process:
- Screening: Where the Screening Committee evaluates online application details to create a shortlist of candidates.
- Trade Test : To assess practical knowledge relevant to the job requirements, with the format determined by the Selection Committee.
- Competitive Written Examination (CWE): Which consists of objective multiple-choice questions administered via OMR sheets.
