SSC GD Constable Notification 2026!

Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has announced the official notification for the recruitment of Constables (GD) in the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPFs) and the Secretariat Security Force (SSF), as well as Riflemen (GD) in the Assam Rifles (AR) for the year 2026. This recruitment process will be conducted through a competitive examination aimed at filling various positions within the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA). Eligibility:

Candidates must have completed their Matriculation (10th Class) or an equivalent qualification from a recognized Board or University by 01 January 2026. It is essential that results are officially declared by this date as mere processing of results does not meet the requirement. Degrees or diplomas obtained through Open and Distance Learning are acceptable provided they are recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC).

Pay Scale:

The pay scale for Pay Level-3 ranges from ₹.21,700 to ₹.69,100, applicable to all positions within this category.

Application Process:

  1. Mode:The application process is exclusively conducted online via Official Website.
  2. Application Fee: ₹. 100 is required payable through various online methods such as BHIM UPI, Net Banking and major credit/debit cards although this fee is waived for women, SC/ST candidates, and Ex-Servicemen.
  3. One-Time Registration (OTR): Applicants must complete a One-Time Registration on the new SSC portal as previous registrations are no longer valid. While providing an Aadhaar number for biometric authentication is optional.
  4. Photo and Signature: Candidates will need to capture a live photo and upload a signature in JPEG format adhering to specific size requirements.
  5. Force Preferences: It is essential to select a preferred order for seven forces (BSF, CISF, CRPF, SSB, ITBP, AR, SSF) as changes cannot be made after submission or during the correction period.
  6. State Selection:  Must correspond with the application with no alterations permitted and migrants can opt for reservation from their state of origin or apply as unreserved from their domiciled state, provided they submit a caste certificate if seeking reservation.
  7. Correction Charges: A set at ₹.200 for the first amendment and ₹.500 for the second both payable online. 

Selection Process:

  1. Computer-Based Examination (CBE): The exam consists of 80 multiple-choice questions (MCQs) totaling 160 marks, with a time limit of 60 minutes. It incorporates a negative marking system, deducting 0.25 marks for each incorrect answer. Candidates can choose to take the exam in English, Hindi, or any of the 13 regional languages available.
  2. Physical Standard Test (PST): Specific height measurements, for males the minimum height  requirement is 170 cm, with a relaxation to 165 cm applicable for Scheduled Tribes (ST), Gorkhas, and candidates from Northeastern states. Females must meet a height of 157 cm, with allowances ranging from 150 to 155 cm for ST and Northeastern candidates.  A chest measurement for males 80 cm unexpanded and 85 cm expanded  with certain categories permitted a relaxation to 76-77 cm unexpanded. Weight must be proportionate to height and age according to medical standards. Candidates are allowed to appeal on the same day for any discrepancies in height or chest measurements.
  3. Physical Efficiency Test (PET):

Age Limit:

The age requirement for applicants is between 18 and 23 years. This means individuals must have been born no earlier than 02 January 2003 and no later than 01 January 2008. The key date for determining eligibility based on age is 01 January 2026.

Note: Candidates must be citizens of India to be eligible for the vacancies which are allocated based on state, union territory, area. During the Document Verification (DV) process, applicants are required to submit a Domicile Certificate or a Permanent Residential Certificate (PRC) from the respective state or union territory indicated in their application. OBC/EWS candidates must ensure they possess a valid Income and Asset Certificate for the financial year 2025-26, based on the previous year’s data. Applicants are advised to be vigilant against fraudulent activities, as misconduct may result in disqualification.  For West Pakistani Refugees (WPR) residing in Jammu & Kashmir or Ladakh who do not possess full citizenship status, a Nativity/Identity Certificate, as outlined in Annexure-XIII, is necessary.
