Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced Recruitment Notification 01/2025 on behalf of the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS) and the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS), both of which operate under the Ministry of Education, Government of India. This collaborative recruitment initiative aims to fill a range of teaching and non-teaching positions through a direct recruitment process across KVS and NVS institutions in India, facilitated by a common examination conducted by CBSE. Released on November 13, 2025, the notification invites eligible Indian citizens to apply online for a total of 14,967 vacancies, which include approximately 9,126 positions for KVS and 5,841 for NVS. The available roles encompass various teaching positions such as Principal, Vice Principal, Post Graduate Teachers (PGTs), Trained Graduate Teachers (TGTs), and Primary Teachers (PRTs), as well as non-teaching roles like Administrative Officers, Assistant Engineers, Stenographers, and Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS).

Eligibility Criteria:

The eligibility requirements for various positions differ, but generally encompass specific educational qualifications.

Teaching:Candidates are typically expected to hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree along with a B.Ed or CTET certification; for instance, a Primary Teacher (PRT) should have completed Senior Secondary education with a D.El.Ed, while a Post Graduate Teacher (PGT) must possess a Postgraduate degree accompanied by a B.Ed.

Non-Teaching:Require relevant degrees or diplomas, such as an MBA or PGDM for an Administrative Officer, and at least Matriculation for a Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS) role.

Age Limit:

The age requirement for applicants is set between 18 and 40 years. However, there are specific relaxations for candidates belonging to reserved categories: individuals from Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes are allowed an additional 5 years, those from Other Backward Classes can benefit from a 3-year extension, and persons with disabilities are granted a 10-year age relaxation.

The selection process consists of several stages,

  1. Written Examination: Conducted as a computer-based test (CBT), featuring objective-type questions worth 200 marks for most positions, along with a penalty of 0.25 marks for incorrect answers.
  2. Skill Test:Candidates for certain roles, such as stenographers, will undergo a skill test that assesses specific abilities like typing or shorthand.
  3. Document Verification:There will be a verification of original documents to ensure authenticity,
  4. Medical Examination: To confirm the candidates’ fitness for the role.

Merit lists will be compiled based on the combined scores from the written examination and skill test, with interviews being unnecessary for the majority of positions.

Salary:

Selected candidates will align with the 7th Central Pay Commission guidelines. For teaching positions, the pay scale ranges from Level 6 to Level 12, with salaries between ₹35,400 and ₹2,12,400. Non-teaching roles will offer compensation from Level 1 to Level 10, with salaries ranging from ₹18,000 to ₹1,77,500. In addition to the base salary, employees will receive various benefits, including Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), Transport Allowance, medical coverage, and pension contributions under the National Pension System (NPS). For those in residential positions, such as in the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS), rent-free accommodation may also be provided.
